Looking Back at Robotics & Automation 2025

Miss us at the Robotics & Automation Exhibition? Check out our roundup to get a taste of the atmosphere and our exhibits!
This week the team from Machine Building Systems attended the Robotics & Automation Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham. We were excited to showcase some wonderful demos across our Linear Unit and Conveyor, and AMR/AGV base cart ranges. This was also an excellent opportunity to share expertise and knowledge with visitors and see what the industry is thinking.
This trade show encompasses more than just robotics and automation, with the Intralogistex and Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibitions running simultaneously. It was so wonderful to see so many of our customers and colleagues from around the industry who were excited to see what we had brought with us.

We were really excited to be demonstrating one of our new products, the Base Cart for AGVs and AMRs. Item have partnered with various manufacturers of AMRs and AGVs including ABB, MiR, and Safelog when developing their Mobile Robotics solutions. We brought the Base Cart for a MiR 250 – avalible here – with a range of potential solutions on the top module showing that the only limits of this application is the limits of your imagination! From material flow racks, to robot tables, to pallet transport, there are a staggering number of possibilities for creating bespoke intralogistics solutions.
Our conveyors proved to be a big hit, with our visitors being impressed by just how quickly you could develop a custom conveyor solution on our online EngineeringTool. The versatility of our powerful and low maintenance conveyor technology sparked some fascinating conversations about the possibilities and left both us and our visitors inspired.

But by far the stars of the show was our linear motion units. Our XMS Cabin with KLE Compact Linear Units really got us and our visitors excited with the integrated signaling and lighting solutions, all from item. Our experts were just as excited as our visitors about this one, the impressive speed and precision demonstrated in this application of filling test tubes. But it wasn’t just the things inside our machine cabin that was of interest, the XMS Profiles making up the outside of the cabin also proved popular with their sleek modern look, integrated cable conduits and buttons. We had an absolute blast discussing this with you, our visitors, and how we could help you intergrade this into your next project.
